We apply engineering principles to understand how tissue microenvironments influence cancer initiation, development, and therapy response.

I am a senior at Cornell University studying biological engineering with a minor in Spanish. I work with PhD candidate Garrett Beeghly to understand how obesity impacts breast cancer progression. Specifically, I culture 3T3-L1s preadipocytes under hypertrophic conditions and investigate the subsequent changes in cell phenotypes.

Outside of the lab, I am involved in the cancer resource center where I volunteer in the chemotherapy suites. I feel strongly about bridging the gap between cancer researchers, patients, and clinicians. After graduation, I plan on doing a masters degree in biomedical engineering before entering medical school.
