We apply engineering principles to understand how tissue microenvironments influence cancer initiation, development, and therapy response.

I seek to characterize the connection between genome stability and the DNA damage response (DDR) and the cellular microenvironment, both in the context of microenvironmental-dependent changes in the DDR of mammary epithelial cells, as well as the impacts of genome instability in breast stromal cells on the extracellular matrix composition.

I earned a doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM) from Cornell University, followed by a residency in laboratory animal medicine with the Center for Animal Resources and Education at Cornell University. I received my PhD in Biomedical and Biological Sciences from Cornell University. My graduate research in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Weiss focused on the molecular mechanisms that maintain genomic integrity, particularly DNA double strand break repair, and on the coordination of the Fanconi Anemia DNA Damage response pathway with metabolic homeostasis.
